Accessible and Affordable Girls Summer Basketball in Milwaukee
Looking for a unique summer basketball opportunity?
Welcome to MKE PHX! We are a 16/17U basketball program focused on girls looking for an alternative to traditional AAU-style teams — an opportunity to build life and basketball skills in a way that is affordable, accessible, and focused on individual growth on and off the court.

ABOUT US
Players
Phoenix is open to any girl entering high school grades 10-12, with a preference given to those graduating in 2027 or 2028. Some varsity-level experience is preferred. Exceptions may be made in specific circumstances.
Leaders
The program and team are led by two experienced local coaches focused on teaching skills like teamwork, leadership, work ethic, resiliency, mental toughness, consistency, and continuous improvement. We stress positivity.
Erik Brooks, Founder
Assistant Coach, Mount Mary University

I am currently an assistant coach at Mount Mary University, a NAIA program in Milwaukee, after serving three seasons as the varsity head coach at St. Anthony High School in Milwaukee. I came to basketball coaching like many do – through my own kids. My journey started with coaching my son in sixth grade, continued with my daughter, and soon grew to include other young people who became like family. Now, coaching is a passion I’ll have forever. A passion to help others through basketball. A passion to teach lessons on and off the court. A passion to give back. A passion for the game. I bring that passion – along with a unique set of skills, insights, and life experiences from more than 25 years as a community and communications leader – to this program.
Angelo Flores, Head Coach
Head Coach, St. Joan Antida/Tenor/Veritas; founder of Hoops Heaven

My name is Angelo Flores and I am currently the Head Coach of the girls varsity basketball team at St. Joan Antida/Tenor/Veritas. I just completed my third season and we have improved our win total every season. In addition to coaching at the high school level, I also coach the third grade youth team and am a board member for the Greenfield Girls Basketball Club. My passion for playing basketball started in fourth grade and continued all the way through college at MSOE. I discovered a new passion for coaching and empowering the youth through basketball and am excited to continue that for years to come.
Schedule
We will practice on average twice per week into July, at either Saint Joan Antida High School or the Bloechl Center at Mount Mary University.
We aim to play approximately 15-20 games from May-July, based on availability of players. Tournaments will likely be on Saturdays, Sundays, or both, within a 60-minute drive of Milwaukee.
We will also do a year-end outing. In 2025, it was to a Chicago Sky game.
Cost
Cost will not be a barrier to playing for the Phoenix. We offer an affordable, “pay as you go” option that for most participants will keep costs as low as possibe. Included in the cost are home and away jerseys and shorts, gym usage, balls, and other team costs like insurance.
- Base cost: All players pay this to cover general program costs, and it includes access to all practices.
- In addition to the base fee, players also pay based on tournaments and leagues they commit to, estimated to be $30-$40 per activity.
